Werner Families this is a very important message from your Principal.
As you may be aware we are expecting more rain during the next few days.  In an attempt to keep our 900 students safe and dry we will be trying out a rainy day dismissal procedure for rainy days ONLY. Again this is for rainy days only. These will be the dismissal areas:
Kinder will continue to dismiss as usual in the cafeteria.
1st grade will be dismissing from cafeteria and in front of the school with their teacher.
2nd and 3rd grade will dismiss from the EAST gate and we will be placing canopies borrowed from parents and staff to keep our students dry. We will also use the covered area by B-1,B-4, and B-5.
4th grade will dismiss at the EAST Gate under the canopies and
5th grade will dismiss from the front of the school.

Hello Werner Star Families!

We are now well into the school year and it has been great seeing our students scholars following our three core values…

At this time of the year we are finishing up our beginning of the year assessments and identifying students needing interventions and those needing academic enrichment. Please be sure to ask your child’s teacher about your child’s current reading and math levels. In the month of October we will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences. More information to come soon.

We are happy to share that we have some student clubs being planned at Werner which are being supported by our wonderful classroom teachers. Our clubs coming soon are: Singing Club, The Good News Club, Robotics Club, Computer Club, and Origami Club. Our goal is to engage our students in activities that interest them and encourage them to expand on their interests. Students must follow our core values to be participate in the clubs.

Families don’t forget to sign up for our District’s Yearly Parent Summit being held at Carter High School on October 15th from 9 am- 1pm.  The focus will be on Literacy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Parents will be provided with valuable workshops. We hope to see our Werner Families well represented at the Parent Summit!!

Finally, we would like to congratulate our students who reclassified as Fluent English Speakers. These students have demonstrated that they have dominated that English Language while still preserving their primary home language!

Thank you all for a great start to the school year and don’t forget that we are a school community and it is our commitment to work side by side with our families to make Werner Elementary a

“Shining Example of Excellence!”

Warm Regards,
Mrs. A. Román, Principal
